Welcome to the Regal Fritillary Butterfly Tours at Fort Indiantown Gap!

2024 PERMITS AVAILABLE MAY 28!

On May 28, 2024, the Grasslands and Butterfly Tour SAFETY BRIEF will be available online by logging into your iSportsman account (create account by registering BELOW) and clicking on the “My Safety Briefs” tab. After watching the brief, you will be able to view permits to obtain a FREE Grasslands and Butterfly Tour PERMIT.

NOTE: iSportsman is also used by the outdoor recreation (hunting), and firewood yard programs that require their own separate permits. Butterfly tour permits will be clearly labeled and are FREE. Be sure to only acquire the permits you are interested in. Tour permits are generally only available late May-July/until they are all claimed.

Wildlife staff will provide guided tours of grassland habitat found at Fort Indiantown Gap (FIG), home to the only remaining population of the eastern regal fritillary butterfly. Staff will highlight a variety of animals and plants found at FIG and how the military presence on the base is vital to the persistence of these species and their ecosystems.
